Portable material testing device for quick measurement of roughness (Ra, Rz, Rq, Rt, and more) with a detachable motor unit and touchscreen. The roughness measuring device is used to measure the roughness of surfaces. It features a detachable motor carriage that allows for the determination of surface roughness even on small or narrow profiles. The measurement values are displayed on a large LCD screen, which is also used for operation. The device is powered by an internal battery that can be charged using a standard USB power supply. The detachable motor carriage is connected to the main unit via a cable. The diamond stylus is integrated into the motor carriage and presses against the surface to be measured with a maximum force of 4 mN. The roughness gauge measures according to the valid ISO, ANSI, and JIS standards for roughness measuring devices.

Important information about the roughness measuring device:
Rz = average roughness depth: The average roughness depth Rz is the arithmetic mean of the largest individual roughness depths from several adjacent individual measurement sections.
Ra = arithmetic mean roughness value: Ra is the generally accepted and internationally applied roughness parameter. It is the arithmetic mean of the absolute values of the profile deviations within the reference length. The measured value Ra is always smaller than the Rz value determined on the same roughness profile.
Rt = maximum roughness depth: The maximum roughness depth Rt is the distance between the highest and lowest point of the measurement section.
Rq = quadratic mean roughness value: Rq is the quadratic mean of all ordinate values within the individual measurement section. Rq corresponds to the designation RMS (Root Mean Square).
