Additionally, this tap is surface-hardened, which helps to counteract tool wear. Increased tool wear occurs, for example, when machining aluminum alloys, which often contain a certain amount of silicon that is hard and brittle. The advantage of a machine tap over a hand tap set is that only one pass is required to create the thread. This tap is used for producing metric ISO standard threads. At the end of the cylindrical shank, there is a square drive for use in a tapping machine. The tap is manufactured according to DIN ISO 529 and conforms to the tolerance class h6.
