Product details
This machine tap is made from an alloy of HSS steel with a cobalt content of 5%. The cobalt content enhances the heat resistance of the tap. Additionally, this tap is surface-hardened, which helps to counteract tool wear. Increased tool wear occurs, for example, when machining aluminum alloys, which often contain a certain amount of silicon that is hard and brittle. The advantage of a machine tap over a hand tap set is that only one pass is required to create the thread. This tap is used for producing metric ISO standard threads. At the end of the cylindrical shank, there is a square for clamping in a tap wrench. The tap is manufactured according to DIN ISO 529 and is subject to tolerance class h6.
