A first aid kit is mandatory in every car according to the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO). Anyone who has ever provided first aid at the scene of an accident knows how important and helpful items like emergency blankets and compresses can be. The contents of a car first aid kit are regulated by the DIN 13164 standard. This standard was significantly amended in 2022: in the future, drivers will also be required to carry two medical face masks. The mask requirement in the first aid kit is expected to come with the next amendment to the StVZO and will therefore apply even after the pandemic.
