J-P Peltonen Ranger Knife M95 FDE Composite

J-P Peltonen is a small manufacturer that focuses on a single product: the Sissipuukko Ranger knife. With its solid TPU handle and sophisticated sheath, the Sissipuukko is a favorite among those who need a robust, no-nonsense knife. The FDE Cerakote coated blade is practical for use, easy to sharpen, and does not glimmer in the sun. It is also excellent for splitting firewood.

The blade is coated with Cerakote, a ceramic-based coating system. Specifically developed for use on firearms, it offers incredible properties. The ultra-thin layer gives the knife an elegant appearance while providing outstanding corrosion protection by preventing oxygen from reaching the steel. While conventional surface treatments like classic bluing or phosphating only offer rust protection in conjunction with oil, Cerakote protects even with minimal maintenance.

During his work as a military observer, J-P Peltonen was inspired by a US Army knife he saw on a tour in Lebanon in 1979. As further motivation, he heard a Finnish lieutenant colonel stationed in the harsh conditions of northern Finland explain that a new knife was needed—one that combined a sturdy structure, military practicality, and everything required from a wilderness knife under Nordic conditions.

The Sissipuukko is the result of a long development phase. The current model is NATO-certified and is popular among professionals as well as hikers and bushcraft enthusiasts.
