J-P Peltonen is a small manufacturer that focuses on a single product: the Sissipuukko Ranger knife. With its solid TPU handle and sophisticated sheath, the Sissipuukko is a firm favorite among those who need a robust, no-nonsense knife. The Teflon-coated blade is practical for use, easy to sharpen, and does not glimmer in the sun. It is also excellent for splitting firewood.

During his work as a military observer, J-P Peltonen was inspired by a US Army knife he saw in Lebanon in 1979. As further motivation, he heard a Finnish lieutenant colonel stationed in the harsh conditions of northern Finland explain that a new knife was needed—one that combined a sturdy structure, military practicality, and everything required from a wilderness knife in Nordic conditions.

The Sissipuukko is the result of a long development phase. The current model is NATO-certified and is popular among professionals as well as hikers and bushcraft enthusiasts.
