The base and the sliding element are made of strong cast iron, which has been machined at all friction surfaces to ensure smooth and reliable operation. The jaws, handle, and main screw are made of steel, with the latter featuring a double trapezoidal thread to allow for quick and complete opening and closing of the jaws with a minimal number of turns.
