While many modern lead-acid battery systems have the standard plate construction, the Enersys Cyclon cells use wound grids as electrode supports. Due to the wound construction, an enormous stability is achieved, allowing the use of pure lead as grid material. This, along with the thin grids, characterizes the Enersys pure lead batteries. Through further optimization of the electrochemical processes, the Cyclon cells have the following special properties: larger active surface and thus lower internal resistance, higher energy extraction, better cycle stability, longer service life, longer shelf life, wide operating temperature range, and very good charge acceptance after deep discharge or storage.
