For this trap, you simply collapse the mole tunnel at a specific point. This is not difficult, as the tunnels are usually well visible, just below the surface of the lawn. At the collapse point, the trap is then inserted into the ground so that the jaws are located within the tunnel. By stepping on the tension lever, the trap is now set. This lowers the trigger into the tunnel. If the mole tries to dig the tunnel free again, the trigger moves upward and the trap snaps shut powerfully. You can tell if the trap has been triggered by the position of the tension lever without having to remove it from the ground.
