These Forgefix Flat Penny Washers have an outer diameter of 25 mm. The washers are bright zinc plated to enhance corrosion resistance and are named 'Penny Washer' because their size resembles that of an old penny. Washers provide a smooth surface for the nut or bolt to rest on, making it less likely to loosen due to an uneven fastening surface. The primary purpose of a washer is to distribute the load under a screw head or nut face. Application: Suitable for all types of fastening applications. Can be used with all kinds of screws and nuts. Zinc coatings prevent the oxidation of the protected metal, ensuring a longer-lasting surface. This is achieved by forming a barrier and acting as a sacrificial anode when this barrier is damaged.
