These Forgefix high-performance washers of type A are thicker than the more popular type B washers. They are bright zinc plated for increased corrosion resistance and comply with DIN 125 standards. Washers provide a smooth surface for the nut or bolt to rest on, making it less likely to loosen due to an uneven fastening surface. The primary purpose of a washer is to distribute the load under a screw head or nut surface. Application: For all types of fastening applications. Can be used with all kinds of screws and nuts. Zinc coatings prevent oxidation of the protected metal and provide a longer-lasting surface. This is achieved by forming a barrier and acting as a sacrificial anode when this barrier is damaged. Zinc oxide is a fine, white powder that does not cause surface damage to the substrate upon formation (unlike iron oxide). If intact, the zinc oxide can act as a barrier against further oxidation, similar to the oxide layers of aluminum and stainless steel.
