Ferodo Brake Disc
They are almost always attached to the brake hub. During braking, the brake pads press against the disc brake, reducing the rotational speed of the disc and thus the entire vehicle. Brake discs are usually made of gray cast iron or steel alloys. Like the brake pads, the brake disc also wears out, but at a slower rate than the pads. During frequently repeated braking processes, the brake discs heat up significantly and must therefore meet the highest standards. To withstand extreme loads, there are also discs made of carbon and ceramic. To achieve increased heat resistance, brake discs are sometimes heat-treated. This involves heating them strongly after production and then cooling them down again. Additionally, there are ventilated brake discs. Perforated or slotted brake discs achieve better braking performance in wet conditions, as their indentations allow for quicker and more effective drainage of water standing on the brake disc. Another advantage is that dirt, such as brake dust, disappears from the brake disc more quickly.
