Cold Steel Thai machete
55.90 cmProduct details
Cold Steel's President Lynn C. Thompson drew his inspiration from Thai swords in his private collection, as well as his intensive practice of Thai martial arts, and began working on his own interpretation of a machete-style Thai sword. Lynn has been practising Thai martial arts since the early 80s. He learnt Thai boxing from Bill Berg and the late Ernie Franco and then went on to study Muay Thai and Krabi Krabong with Ron Balicki, his current training partner and instructor for over 13 years.
training partner and instructor for over 13 years. The Thai Machete is the result of 4 years of development and optimisation. Like the Thai swords it was modelled on, this machete is beautifully balanced and has a sharp edge and point. Although traditionally used in pairs in Thai martial arts, these long, curved blades are incredibly versatile. They are light enough to be wielded one-handed, but have an extra-long handle that provides enough room for both hands to increase leverage and cutting power. Thanks to its wide blade and curved cutting edge, the Thai Machete is an excellent brush cutter. It cuts effortlessly through grass, climbing plants and light foliage. The fully sharpened blade is made from the same sturdy 1055 carbon steel as the other classic blades in Cold Steel's incredibly popular range of machetes. The sturdy polypropylene handle has a traditional look with a flattened oval shape that prevents the machete from rotating in the hand. The steel-reinforced parrying element offers surprisingly good protection for the hand.
