Product details

The No.10 Swedish Forest Knife Carbon Steel by Casström is suitable not only for bushcraft adventurers but also for everyday outdoor use. The carbon steel blade is extremely hard and sharp, allowing the knife to be used for tasks like splitting wood or similar activities. Resharpening is easy. However, the blade should be dried after use and oiled or waxed during long-term storage to prevent corrosion. Thanks to its stylish wooden handle and vegan-tanned leather sheath, the knife has an elegant appearance.

Steel composition: C. 0.9%; Si. 0.25%; Mn. 2.0%; Cr. 0.35%; V. 0.1%. Note: Due to the chromium content of 8%, it is somewhat corrosion-resistant compared to regular carbon steel (about 0.5% Cr), but not as good as stainless steel (13% Cr). Therefore, the blade should be dried after use and protected with oil or wax when stored in a high-humidity environment. Sleipner steel belongs to the category of die steels with 8% chromium and is designed to achieve toughness similar to that of simple tool steels like A2, but with much higher wear resistance, closer to D2. Casström adds a cryogenic treatment cycle at sub-zero temperatures, where liquid nitrogen is used after quenching to make the blades harder and improve the steel structure.
