Brembo Brake Disc
They are almost always attached to the brake hub. During braking, the brake pads press against the disc brake, reducing the rotational speed of the disc and thus the entire vehicle. Brake discs are usually made of cast iron or steel alloys. Just like the brake pads, the brake disc also wears out, although it does so more slowly than the pads. With frequently repeated braking actions, the brake discs heat up significantly and must therefore meet the highest demands. To withstand extreme loads, there are also discs made of carbon and ceramic.
To achieve increased heat resistance, brake discs are sometimes heat-treated. In this process, they are heated strongly and then cooled again after production. Additionally, there are ventilated brake discs. Perforated or slotted brake discs achieve better braking performance in wet conditions, as their indentations transport the water standing on the brake disc away more quickly and effectively. Another advantage is that dirt, such as brake dust, disappears from the brake disc more quickly.
