Brembo Brake Disc
Brake discs are almost always attached to the brake hub. During braking, the brake pads press against the disc brake, reducing the rotational speed of the disc and thus the entire vehicle. Brake discs are usually made of cast iron or steel alloys.
Like brake pads, brake discs also wear out, but at a slower rate. With frequent braking, the brake discs heat up significantly and must meet the highest standards. To withstand extreme loads, there are also discs made from carbon and ceramic.
To achieve increased heat resistance, brake discs are sometimes heat-treated. This process involves reheating them significantly after production and then cooling them down again. Additionally, there are ventilated brake discs.
Perforated or slotted brake discs provide better braking performance in wet conditions, as they transport water standing on the brake disc away more quickly and effectively. Another advantage is that dirt, such as brake dust, is removed from the brake disc more rapidly.
