Brembo Brake Disc
Brake discs are almost always attached to the brake hub. During braking, the brake pads press against the disc brake, reducing the rotational speed of the disc and thus the entire vehicle. Brake discs are usually made of cast iron or steel alloys. Like the brake pads, the brake disc also wears out, but at a slower rate than the pads. Frequent braking can cause the brake discs to heat up significantly, so they must meet the highest standards. To withstand extreme loads, there are also discs made of carbon and ceramic.
To achieve increased heat resistance, brake discs are sometimes heat-treated. This involves reheating them significantly after production and then cooling them down again. Additionally, there are ventilated brake discs. Perforated or slotted brake discs provide better braking performance in wet conditions, as they transport the water standing on the brake disc away more quickly and effectively. Another advantage is that dirt, such as brake dust, is removed from the brake disc more rapidly.
