The Aeotec switch insert allows for the retrofitting of a standard lighting installation, transforming it into an intelligent smart home component with Z-Wave wireless technology. This makes it possible to control a connected load both wirelessly via Z-Wave and locally using a traditional wall switch for switching and dimming. The device is placed in a wall box directly behind the existing conventional switch. The switch no longer directly controls the load; instead, it only sends a control signal to the Aeotec device, which in turn manages the load.
