The Vital safety device from ABB is the core of a new solution that allows for the installation and connection of many different types of safety devices within the same safety circuit while maintaining safety category 4 according to EN 954-1/EN ISO 13849-1. The Vital module is based on a dynamic single-channel concept, differing from traditional dual-channel safety relays. ABB developed this device to accommodate up to 30 dynamic sensors in the safety circuit, which can be monitored via a Vital module. Therefore, the Vital unit can replace multiple safety relays. Safety components with output contacts can be connected to the Vital using the cost-effective Tina adapters. The Vital also features an automatically or manually monitored reset, dual safety outputs, and an information output for reset indication as well as status information for PLCs. Cost-effective cable management/connections, information output with two functions, LED indicators for: power supply, dynamic signal, and outputs, detachable connector blocks, two normally closed safety outputs, manual monitoring or automatic reset, suitable for long cable lengths, standard width: 22.5 mm, protection class IP40, mechanical lifespan: >10^7 switching cycles, safety category 4 according to EN 954-1/EN ISO 13849-1 for dynamic safety circuits.
