The mounting of the rear carrier does not depend so much on the vehicle as on the trailer coupling installed. A trailer coupling must fulfil the following criteria for the installation of a trailer coupling bicycle carrier:
- The drawbar load of the trailer coupling must at least correspond to the weight of the rear carrier and the bicycles;
- The distance between the ball head and the bumper should be at least 6.5 cm;
- The trailer coupling must be made of steel St 52-3 or at least an equivalent material; aluminium couplings or couplings made of GGG 40 must not be mounted;
- The electrical connection must be 7-pole or 13-pole.
- The socket must not be located directly on the coupling neck.
