Question about Abus Bordo Granite X-Plus 6500

I have bought an Abus Bordo X-Plus 6500/110 for my eBike and now I have to realise that it cannot/should not be screwed onto the bottle cage. To prevent this, Abus has not even provided the bracket with holes or offset holes so that you don't even get the idea. I don't want to mount it with the supplied straps and apparently I can't send it back because it's unpacked. My question, has anyone tried drilling holes in the bracket and mounting it on the bottle cage themselves?

Helpful answer

Hello,
It's perfectly possible. I drilled two holes in the bracket, screwed it in place of the bottle holder and it fits perfectly. I arranged for the holder to rest on the bottom of the frame, because the shape of my bike allows it. Psychologically it takes some of the weight, but it's probably not necessary. I've also cut the 'arms' for the straps without regret.
Have a good ride

Yes I have done this. Drilled 2 holes and it has lasted since 2019 and 10000km on a fast eBike without any problems. I am very satisfied like this. Lg

I fixed it to the frame, behind the saddle without drilling anything and I'm happy with the result. No experience with holes in the bracket.

Hello,
I also drilled two holes in the holder and attached it to the bottle holder. I also removed the two arms for the straps. No problem. It holds very well.
