Rear brake, Brake lever
Hello. My current brake lever is Shimano mt500 and it is leaking and damaged. Is it possible to put this instead? Thank you

The Shimano BL-MT401 brake lever is designed to be compatible with specific Shimano brake calipers. Here are the key points to consider:
- Compatibility: The BL-MT401 lever is recommended for use with the BR-MT410 and BR-MT420 calipers.
- Brake Hose: The lever uses specific brake hoses, SM-BH59-JK-SS for BR-MT410 and SM-BH90-SS for BR-MT420.
- Compatibility with MT500: The MT500 lever and caliper system is a different configuration. The BL-MT401 lever is not directly compatible with the MT500 calipers without ensuring the correct brake hose and caliper match.
To replace your current MT500 brake lever with the BL-MT401, you would need to ensure that you also replace the caliper with one of the recommended models (BR-MT410 or BR-MT420) and use the corresponding brake hose. Simply swapping the lever alone may not be sufficient and could result in compatibility issues.
