Question about Thule EasyFold XT 3
Does it fit the VW T5 Multivan 2011, with tailgate? Can the tailgate be opened with the carrier folded down?
The Easy Fold XT 3 cannot be folded down far enough at the factory and therefore the tailgate of the VW bus T5 cannot be opened completely.
The end stops on this rear carrier are made of plastic. I was able to cut them off (shorten them) so that the rear carrier can now be folded down completely to the floor.
Now the carrier also fits the VW bus (and probably all other vans/buses).

It definitely doesn't work with my Merc Marco Polo or Viano/V-Class (2018). Furthermore, the handlebars hit the rear window if you do not turn them off first.
I use the carrier on my Audi A6 and as it folds down very much, it will also be possible to open the tailgate on a T5 with the carrier down. If you still have doubts, you can check the Thule homepage.
