Product details

The Zipp 404 has stood for speed for three decades. The Firecrest Tubeless version for disc brakes is the latest generation. The legacy of the Zipp 404 as a symbol of speed dates back decades, and its future is even brighter. With a height of 58 mm, the 404 Firecrest Tubeless is ideal for road racing, marathons, time trials, triathlons, and tours on varied terrain. The internal width of the wheelset at 23 mm is perfect for riding wider, tubeless tires at reduced air pressure. This is a crucial component of Total System Efficiency (TSE), an approach to increasing speed on ever-changing roads and riding conditions. TSE focuses specifically on overcoming specific speed barriers: aerodynamic drag, gravity, rolling resistance, and vibration losses. Zipp's ABLC Sawtooth technology employs a complex dimple pattern to enhance aerodynamic efficiency. The use of hookless (straight) rims by Zipp in the 404 Firecrest is a key part of "Making You Faster." With hookless, the transition between tire and rim is smoother and more aerodynamic. Zipp's hookless rims have a more efficient resin distribution, resulting in lighter and stronger wheels. An outdoor test commissioned by Zipp has demonstrated the practical benefits of Zipp TSE. A total system weight of 85 kg, consisting of rider and bike, requires 286 watts with the 404 Firecrest and 25 mm tires to maintain a speed of 40 km/h. This is a saving of 4 watts compared to the previous model, the 404 Firecrest. At the heart of the 404 Firecrest Tubeless for disc brakes is a versatile and durable hub set, the ZR1 DB developed in Germany. If you could only choose one wheel for road training and racing, the 404 Firecrest Tubeless for disc brakes is a smart and fast choice.
