A bicycle helmet doesn't have to be unstylish. This is what the startup Unit 1 thought when they launched a smart helmet on the Kickstarter platform in 2021. However, this crowdfunding star offers much more than just good looks. Unit 1 has developed the Faro helmet, which focuses on protection and visibility. The smart helmet is equipped with a state-of-the-art lighting system and also impresses with its thoughtful ventilation. Additionally, the helmet can notify emergency services in the event of a fall through an emergency system. The integrated MIPS system enhances safety during impacts. MIPS is an additional safety system built into the helmet that increases energy absorption during rotational and angular impacts, thereby improving the helmet's performance in a collision. At night, the helmet's unique features become apparent alongside its modern design. The advanced lighting system ensures you cannot be overlooked and also provides the option to signal lane changes or turns via a remote control. Colors and effects can be adjusted through an app. The light strip on the back of the Faro simulates a rear light. With built-in sensors, the helmet detects when you brake, automatically illuminating the area in a shade of red to alert drivers. Emergency system in case of an accident: When the emergency system is activated, you must confirm your well-being in the app after a fall. If this is not done, a designated contact along with your location will be automatically notified. Charging time is about 3 hours via Micro-USB.
