The butterfly shape brings even more protection, comfort and rolling efficiency: the air channel between the rim and insert acts like a valve. During an impact, some air is forced into the channel towards the rim. The return flow of this air is minimally delayed by the tight fit of the insert, resulting in reduced tire rebound and rolling resistance. The U-shape on the top leaves more room for the trapped air and allows Tubolight to use a firmer foam at the same weight, which makes the protection against snakebites even higher. The snug and tight fit of the insert prevents burping and lateral rolling of the tire very efficiently. The initial air pressure can be reduced by about 25%, which significantly reduces the puncture frequency and rolling resistance.
