The plastics used are free from plasticizers and bisphenols and are food-safe. The leak-proof feature is limited to short-term application of light pressure in an inverted position and brief periods of up to 10 minutes, such as those that occur after the bottles have fallen over. If stored in a lying position for longer than 10 minutes, small amounts of liquid may escape. The bottle, and especially the printing inks, are dishwasher-safe in standard household dishwashers and with the use of common household detergents. However, no guarantee can be made for commercial and industrial machines and detergents.
