Specifically for the STePS system, Shimano has developed a new, reinforced chain that is explicitly designed for e-bike use. It features the SIL-TEC surface treatment and is suitable only for single crankset configurations. Thanks to SIL-TEC technology, it is more efficient, quieter, and requires less maintenance. SIL-TEC is a modern coating process that enhances system performance by using embedded fluorine particles. SIL-TEC products run smoother and exhibit less wear under all conditions.
