Salewa Wildfire Edge

The Wildfire Edge is a technical approach shoe that can transform from a hiking shoe into a climbing shoe. The Salewa Switchfit system was developed in collaboration with mountain guides and professional climbers from the Dolomites and is as simple as it is clever. Just thread the laces through the additional eyelet and pull tight to change the shape of the shoe. Your foot is then pulled forward, and the toes are compressed like in a climbing shoe. This facilitates toe climbing and edging on friction, enhancing safety on technical terrain. Switching back to the hiking shoe mode is achieved by simply loosening the laces, which widens the toe box and provides greater comfort while hiking. The thin, highly breathable GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort membrane protects you from moisture while ensuring maximum comfort in various weather conditions. It keeps your feet dry, but moisture that builds up inside the shoe can still escape. To improve climbing precision, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an Edging Plate, an insole plate under the forefoot that further stiffens this crucial area for climbing. The rest of the insole remains flexible to ensure high comfort and a natural rolling motion. The Exa Shell structure provides support for the foot and prevents slipping inside the shoe. Additionally, your foot is protected by SALEWA's 3F system, which guarantees flexibility, a good fit, and firm support. Climbing Lacing, SALEWA's climbing shoe lacing, extends to the toes, allowing you to tighten the shoe for a precise fit. The Wildfire Edge features the Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+), a special insole that you can customize to your foot shape with interchangeable layers.
