The functional midlayer features a smooth outer surface that works well under a hardshell or insulation layer. On the inside, the grid construction enhances thermal performance while reducing fabric mass. The channel structure with air pockets is particularly advantageous during strenuous ascents: the material is highly breathable, quickly wicks away sweat, and dries rapidly.
