Master Lock 8290 Street Cuff

The manufacturer rates the security as 9 out of 10, whatever that means, because I didn't find anything about this in the FAQ on masterlock.eu. What does "passed safety test according to TNO category 2" mean in the product description? I haven't found any references to this, either on the packaging or online. However, I see the Sold Secure Bicycle Bronze rating from 2017, which does not necessarily speak for a secure lock. And according to LockPickingLawyer (video 355), 4 of the 10 pins are dummies, meaning only 6 need to be manipulated to pick the lock. And there is also no security against brute force (video 556, 609). I am therefore very surprised by the current high rating of 4.6 at Galaxus. For everyday use, the security is still sufficient for me to lock my scooter for a short time and protect it from being carried away, but not overnight in a public place. At least the handcuff design simplifies the attachment of this lock to a scooter in contrast to a folding lock, where there is often the danger that it can be unlooped by dismantling the wheel or handlebar.

You need a backpack to carry it. I hung it on the handlebars of my scooter and it damaged the handlebars, the speedometer screen and the vertical steering bar.
So it's almost impossible to transport. I'd need a special holder to transport it.
The lock is unpleasant and complicated to open, and there are two of them......

Actually quite ok, but these special keys are the shit. Sometimes it's incredibly difficult to open these handcuffs and you can easily break the key or the lock...

I use it for my E-Trotti and I'm happy with it

The handcuff lock is very robust and weighs 1.5 kg. It is therefore not possible to "just take it with you" or only under difficult circumstances. It has to be firmly attached to the vehicle. On an e-scooter, this works well at the lower transition from the footboard to the handlebar fork and at the top of the handlebar fork. Opening with the key is intuitive.
Lighter than I thought. Super lock, I would buy again.
With the key it is sometimes a bit fiddly to open the lock, but that is also sometimes the case with other locks.
The sticker with the company logo fell off after 5 minutes, but that doesn't bother anyone.

This is a very good anti-theft device, very strong and resistant to cuts and abrasions.

Locks securely and "cool"! Is an eye-catcher. Great for scooters, also for bike frames on bars.

After several months of use, and still outside, its appearance has not changed. Very practical for quick opening and closing. Its rubber coating won't scratch the frame or anything else.

Too massive, too heavy and absolutely unwieldy! How you can develop and sell something like this as a bicycle lock is completely beyond me.

Scooter was stolen today as the lock was cut - see picture.

You need to be aware that this padlock is really extremely heavy. If you want to travel light, forget about this padlock.
The diameter of the buckles on the padlock is quite large, but it has its limits, which means that you can't hang it everywhere - a standard sign will do.
Opening and closing the padlock is also very time-consuming, as you have to do it for both loops, and the key system isn't very practical.
But if you accept all these points, it's practical and suitable for electric scooters.
The top, simple to use, allows more possibilities than a standard cadana with the buckle. Very strong and dissuasive.

very solid and practical. It's an excellent anti-theft device for scooters.

It's certainly very impressive when something like this is attached to the scooter.

Also ideal for e-scooters

A matching bracket would complement the lock perfectly.

Too heavy to be carried in a rucksack or at the bottom of a pannier, so I made a support for the 3D printer, to attach it to the water bottle holder on my bike.

The weight of the lock around a scooter or bike can cause a child, in particular, to lose his or her balance.
On the other hand, security against theft is guaranteed.
