I'm flying to Peru/Bolivia this Friday for 3 weeks and will be doing two treks there (1x 5D/4N and 1x 4D/3N). I bought sizes M (which also includes sleeping bag and trekking shoes) and S (which also comes with the backpack on the treks) as check-in luggage. The 95-litre bag can hold an incredible amount. If you're not travelling with it all the time and always have to lug it around, this version should definitely be enough.

Correct, in the new versions (at least from 2017) the carrying straps are too short to use it as a duffle bag, it can only really be used as a backpack. You can of course also carry the "bag" around laboriously on the shoulder straps, but it's not very practical.

The main difference between the two versions of the "Base Camp" duffel bags from The North Face, especially the 50L models, lies mainly in the following aspects: ## Price - One model costs 125.00 €, while the other costs 105 CHF (Swiss francs). This could indicate different regional prices or special offers. ## Colour - Although the question mentions "dark blue", The North Face's Base Camp Duffel Bags offer different colours, including Summit Navy, which could be interpreted as a dark colour. However, it is important to check whether the specific colour "dark blue" is actually available. ## Regional availability and currency - The price in CHF indicates that this is a version for the Swiss market, while the price in Euro may be for a different European market. This can lead to different prices and availability. ## Additional features or changes - There is no indication that there are significant differences in features or construction between the two versions. Both models are likely equipped with the same materials (1000D phthalate-free TPE laminate, 840D Jr. Ballistic Nylon) and the same functions (adjustable shoulder straps, compression straps, waterproof ID window). Overall, it's probably the same bag, but with different prices and possibly regional availability.

Yes, the bag has separate compartments. See the product description, which can be found under Description just below the product. Description: This perfect companion for your expeditions offers enough space and all the features you need to keep your gear safe and organised on all your adventures. Keep your shoes and dirty clothes organised in the separate sleeve pocket on the front. And when it's time to move on again, you can carry it comfortably with the ergonomic shoulder strap or the padded carry handles.

Is the bag waterproof?

The bag is not fully waterproof, but water repellent. It is made of robust materials such as 1000D phthalate-free TPE fabric laminate and 840D ballistic nylon, which make it resistant to water, but it does not offer complete protection against immersion in water.

According to our information, the product is equipped with a PVC-coated tarpaulin, which makes it particularly hard-wearing and water-repellent. It also has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) impregnation, which offers additional protection against moisture.
