Lumos Kickstart MIPS

The new helmets from Lumos provide even more safety for cyclists in road traffic. These lightweight, protective helmets are equipped with 60 LEDs to make you more visible in the dark. The helmet not only aids visibility; it also features turn signals on the back that can be controlled via a wireless remote on the handlebars. This allows you to signal in addition to hand signals, which can sometimes be hard to see in the dark. Lumos helmets also detect when you significantly reduce your speed and light up brighter, similar to brake lights on a car.

When the head is quickly rotated due to a fall or impact and this movement comes to an abrupt stop, the rotational acceleration can place significant stress on the brain tissue. The stretching of the tissue caused by such movements can lead to various brain injuries. The MIPS protection system is activated in response to the rotational acceleration caused by the impact. The MIPS technology (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is based on a slip layer system that moves inside the helmet and mimics the brain's protective system. It slows down or reduces the energy impacting the head. Scientific data shows that the risk and severity of brain injuries can be reduced.
