Product details

The Makra Light Lady GTX is the agile all-round solution for via ferrata and light alpine tours. What can it do? Quite a lot! Shoes designed to safely carry you over iron pegs, ladder rungs, or rocky edges must be particularly well-made to withstand long-term weight loads. At the same time, they should be constructed in a way that allows the wearer to have a secure feel for the ground. To ensure that ascents and descents are comfortable, a well-cushioned base is necessary, allowing for a smooth rolling motion. The sporty mid-cut Makra Light Lady GTX can do even more. It is suitable for women who enjoy the advantages of a low cut when going uphill but do not want to compromise on stabilizing safety at the joints when descending. This is made possible by a special 2-zone fixation and a mechanical clamp that allows the shaft to be easily and efficiently adjusted to the respective terrain. Unlike a conventional clamp hook, the mechanical clamp reliably locks in place and cannot slip after being fixed without manual intervention. This adjustment allows for a tight lacing at the ankle and a looser fixation of the upper shaft for optimal ankle mobility. During descents, the entire setup can also be tightened above the ankle to ensure joint stability. In addition to a flexibly adjustable shaft, the Makra Light Lady GTX impresses with a particularly lightweight, well-fitting, and well-cushioned midsole technology that provides the necessary stability for challenging terrain.

With a low, soft shaft, the Makra is aimed at all those who often go via ferrata climbing and appreciate freedom in the joints. At 1070 grams, the boot is very light and hardly gives any feedback on the condition of the trail thanks to the strong, stiff sole, but you can stand safely and effortlessly even on thin steel pins. Price: 270 euros.

ON STRONG SOLE With a low, soft shaft and stiff sole, the Makra Light is aimed at all those who are often out and about on via ferratas and appreciate plenty of freedom in their joints. Although you can't hope for feedback on the trail conditions, the foot muscles receive plenty of support, which also pays off on long day stages and with a heavy rucksack...

  • PositiveFirm enough for wild terrain and via ferratas, top freedom of movement in the ankle

Originally developed as a lightweight mountain boot, the Hanwag Makra Light (1100 g/pair in size 42.5, €270) also impresses on demanding low mountain climbs. The rather low shaft offers hardly any lateral support, but gives the ankle plenty of freedom. This encourages high speeds and makes ascents a pleasure, especially as the thin, flexible, not too hard cushioned sole provides a lot of feedback and...
