Gilbert Rugby ball Barbarian Rugby Club

The Barbarian Rugby Club, better known as the French Barbarians, is a rugby XV team founded in 1979 and based in France. It was established as an amateur team by invitation, modeled after the famous Barbarian F.C. Since the start of the 2017-18 season, the French Barbarians have been the second official national team of the French Rugby Federation, which previously referred to either the France U20 team or the France A team as this team.

The French Barbarians play in jerseys featuring light blue, navy blue, and royal blue stripes. As with the original Barbarians, the players retain the socks of their club. Jean-Claude Skrela founded the club after playing for the original Barbarians at the end of his career, whom he greatly admired. During the amateur era, all players selected for the team were either French or played for French clubs.
