How to extend the lifetime of your disc brake pads

Bed-in disc brake pads extend the life span of the pads considerably. Squeeze them in carefully and ensure that the pad just audibly touches the brake disc for approximately 100 metres at a speed of ±25 km/hour. Now squeeze a little harder on the brake so that the speed decreases to approximately 5 km/hour, and then slowly increase the speed while gently squeezing the brake. Repeat this 10-12 times and the pads are worn in. Never brake to a stop with the brake still squeezed to prevent damage to the rotor. Always bed-in the front and rear brakes separately.
