By shifting the bypass, the chambers can change their volume, resulting in better compliance for small bumps, allowing you to chase down trails while still providing enough counter-pressure in the mid-stroke and a firm end progression. The shock is equipped with a lever that can be locked and opened to adapt to the varying demands on the trails.
