Product details
The Moon holds the distinction of being the most observed celestial object through backyard telescopes. It is undoubtedly beautiful and mysterious, and it is one of the constants in life that connects all people on the planet. Regardless of who they are or where they live or travel, they all look up at the same Moon. It can be challenging to observe the Moon through a telescope and discern all the details due to its brightness. The eyes are not prepared for the bright beam of light emitted from the eyepiece, causing them to glare, much like stepping into sunlight on a bright summer day. When they are in the sun, they often wear sunglasses. These help relax the eyes, protect against glare, and allow for clearer vision. Amateur astronomers observing the Moon use a moon filter. A Celestron moon filter offers similar benefits to sunglasses—one eye relaxes and opens up to better perceive the details. This is especially important when observing the Moon near full phase. The Celestron moon filter easily screws onto the eyepiece of most 1.25-inch eyepieces. It takes just a second or two to transform a regular eyepiece into one suitable for lunar observations. A moon filter is also helpful when observing Venus or bright terrestrial scenes. However, this filter is not suitable for viewing the Sun.
