About 99 percent of the materials used come from Europe, and Aku also relies on natural materials like cotton for the shoelaces. However, for cushioning, synthetic materials are used again, specifically EVA and polyamide in the midsole and insole. The Vibram outsole consists of over 90 percent natural materials.
