1. ça ira-Verlag Die jüdische Kriegsfront

In early 1940, Jabotinsky attempted in this, his last book published posthumously – released the same year under the title "The Jewish War Front" – to outline the situation as he believed it would unfold in the newly begun war. While he already perceived signs of preparations for the extermination of Jews in Poland, it was beyond his comprehension – despite all the experiences he had endured since his youth regarding persecution and pogroms – to think that the ongoing deportations were actually intended for total annihilation. As a consequence of the war, he saw millions of Polish Jews in danger, who would survive the war alongside the numerous deaths from starvation he feared at the deportation sites, but would thereafter be even more exposed to the anti-Semitic death threat – just as the few survivors were after World War II. Thus, while Jabotinsky was still devising a plan for a large-scale evacuation of several million Jews to Palestine, the underground movement of Bricha could ultimately only organize escape assistance for a few hundred thousand. This book, published in 1940 shortly after the author's death, which also contains detailed drafts for the constitution of the proposed Zionist state, represents the last snapshot of Zionism before the Holocaust. The initiative for its German translation and publication was taken by Joachim Bruhn in 2018.

2. ça ira-Verlag Rackets

The book "Rackets" by Thorsten Fuchshuber offers an in-depth analysis of the racket theory developed by Max Horkheimer. It is regarded as a dialectical-anthropological fundamental form of domination and aims to identify the societal tendencies associated with the increasing organic composition of capital. Originally conceived as a critique of National Socialism, the work highlights the destruction of social mediation instances and reflects on the loss of the autonomy of law in bourgeois societies. Fuchshuber presents the racket theory as a document of independent theory that discusses the political implications of capital-shaped socialization in the post-liberal phase. Despite its ambitions, the racket theory remains a fragment that is thoroughly examined in this comprehensive work.

3. ça ira-Verlag Ursprung in actu

"Ursprung in actu" by Klaus Heinrich is a profound academic book that engages with the philosophy of Martin Heidegger. The author, who has been influenced by Heidegger's work since his student days, offers a critical analysis of the philosophical developments and their political implications. This book examines the thesis of an inner continuity in Heidegger's thought, particularly regarding the tensions between his political past and his philosophical reflections. Heinrich illuminates the complex relationships between Heidegger's thinking and the currents of French existentialism as well as postmodern philosophy. The lecture, conceived as a critical engagement with the "Contributions to Philosophy (From Event)," provides a comprehensive reflection on the philosophical challenges and the significance of the "event" in Heidegger's work. With a clear focus on philosophical themes and their historical contexts, this book is a valuable resource for students and those interested in philosophy.

4. ça ira-Verlag Feindaufklärung und Reeducation

The radical nature of the best works of Critical Theory arises from the awareness that, in critiquing capitalist society, one must first defend against the equally compulsive and self-chosen reaction to this society: the destructive mania of regressive anti-capitalists, which targets Jews. In this context, the experience of Nazi persecution among these leftist intellectuals has become the foundation for a critique that had to move beyond Marxism in order to still conceive liberation in conjunction with Marx's critical theory. This is where their entire relevance lies in post-Nazi society.

5. ça ira-Verlag Philipp Lenhard

Postmodern philosophy is nothing more than the afterlife of National Socialism in democracy (Adorno). Because the radical break with the thinking that led to Auschwitz did not occur, and because, rather, in the 1960s, attempts were made, particularly from the left in a supposedly taboo-breaking manner, to utilize National Socialist philosophy for seemingly emancipatory projects, German ideology today appears as leftist and progressive. This latest German ideology is not only a philosophical movement but also an expression of a societal trend. The postmodern practice of denouncing any general definition of concepts as logocentric and any examination of society under rational criteria as totalitarian is both a reflection of the objective uselessness of the world under the conditions of late capitalist socialization and an attempt to create meaning within those very conditions. In its cult of immediacy, poststructuralism ultimately seeks to align itself with radical Islam and betrays any idea of reconciliation. With contributions from Manfred Dahlmann, Martin Dornis, Alex Gruber, Birte Hewera, Tjark Kunstreich, Philipp Lenhard, Niklaas Machunsky, Florian Ruttner, and Gerhard Scheit.

6. ça ira-Verlag Moishe Postone

The book "Germany, the Left, and the Holocaust" by Moishe Postone offers an in-depth analysis of the political landscape in Germany and the challenges faced by the Left. Postone reflects on the reproduction of prevailing German attitudes and the difficulties associated with a leftist identity in Germany. This work addresses central themes such as the struggle against globalization, solidarity with Palestine, and the protest against the Iraq War. The book compiles Postone's interventions over a period of 25 years and includes an expanded version of his essay on National Socialism and anti-Semitism, as well as political contributions published for the first time in German. A current section is dedicated to Arab anti-Semitism following the events of September 11, 2001, thus providing a comprehensive perspective on the political and social challenges of the present.

7. ça ira-Verlag Karl Friedrich Schinkel / Albert Speer

The specialized book "Karl Friedrich Schinkel / Albert Speer" offers an in-depth exploration of architecture and its development within the context of genre history. The author, Klaus Heinrich, illuminates the essential relationship between light and space by describing architecture as a form of "caves into light." This metaphor highlights how buildings can provide both shelter and openness. The book addresses the tensions that exist in architecture between structure and facade, drawing historical comparisons, such as to the Casa del Fascio by Giuseppe Terragni. Through these considerations, it becomes clear that architecture is not only a physical construct but also possesses a cultural and emotional dimension that has been reflected upon for centuries. The comprehensive analysis and theoretical reflections make this work a valuable resource for students and professionals in the field of architecture.

8. ça ira-Verlag Marxistische Schriften

The first volume of the collected writings of Friedrich Pollock contains texts from the Weimar Republic era that engage with Marx's critique of political economy, particularly focusing on value form analysis and monetary critique. The texts – including Pollock's previously unpublished dissertation from 1923 – demonstrate that the co-founder of the Frankfurt Institute for Social Research had already distanced himself from traditional worker Marxism early on and had undertaken a new reading of Marx's writings. Thus, his writings from this period clearly belong to the context of the emergence of Western Marxism, which would play a central role in the development of Critical Theory. In addition to monetary theoretical investigations, the volume also includes a polemic against the anti-Semitic sociologist Werner Sombart, an examination of the industrial revolution in agriculture, as well as four reviews from his estate. The volume is supplemented with editorial notes and a register of persons.
