Violet's dream of becoming a scholar at the prestigious Basgiath War College is abruptly shattered when she must participate in the selection process for dragon riders as the general's daughter. In the first year, not even half of all applicants will survive, for dragons do not bond with weak individuals; they incinerate them. Most cadets want to take Violet down simply because of her lineage—especially Xaden, the most powerful and ruthless among the squad leaders. And undoubtedly the most attractive. It is he who is assigned to Violet. She will have to leverage every advantage if she wants to survive. An abandoned mountain hotel in the snow-covered Arctic Circle: risky property speculation. The mountain village of Åre in the far north of Sweden is teeming with ski holidaymakers when Stockholm property developer Charlotte Wretlind is found brutally stabbed to death in her hotel room - the bed sticky with blood. Panic spreads through the neighbourhood and Hanna Ahlander and her colleague Daniel Lindskog immediately take on the case. The clues lead to an abandoned high mountain hotel that has long since lost its former splendour: Charlotte had known the place since she was a child and wanted to have the building demolished to replace it with a spectacular luxury hotel. The local residents met her with fierce resistance. But Hanna realises that nothing is as it seems in this case. And then a second murder takes place.
Viewed from above, the world looks entirely different. Six astronauts float in a space station in the cosmos. They orbit the planet Earth every 90 minutes, sixteen times in 24 hours. The two women and four men from various nations work, eat, and sleep in close quarters – yet everything is detached from everyday life; gravity and the sense of time are suspended. What happens when you see your homeland only from afar through a small window? How do thoughts and feelings change? In just one day, as the sun rises and sets sixteen times, this unusual, powerfully poetic novel explores the big and small questions of humanity and brings us close to the beauty of the universe. Awarded the Hawthorndon Prize for Literature 2024 and nominated for the Booker Prize 2024. "This novel is so magnificent that as a reader, you must expand your heart to take it all in. A breathtaking and humbling love letter to Earth and to all who do not underestimate its gifts." Max Porter. "Transcendent nature writing. A brief yet profound study of humanity's familiar fears against the backdrop of monumental descriptions of swirling weather patterns and rotating continents." The Guardian. "Magical – an extraordinary and immensely original novel." The New Yorker.

Two unemployed young men, Kurt Sandweg and Waldemar Velte, sought the sea route from Wuppertal to India in the winter of 1933. To fund their journey, they robbed a bank, accidentally shooting the branch manager in the process. On the run from their pursuers, they didn’t get very far: in Basel, Kurt Sandweg fell in love with the record seller Dorly Schupp. Day after day, he and his friend bought a tango record until their money ran out and another bank robbery became necessary. Every evening, the three of them strolled along the Rhine. Also joining them was the young sports equipment saleswoman Marie Stifter, who would become the narrator's grandmother thirty years later and had to choose between a bank robber and her fiancé.
