The monograph presents the results of research on compound nouns and combinations, that is, multi-word combinations of the nature of phrasal lexemes, which are discontinuous lexemes, in English and Polish. Special attention was given to adjective-noun combinations that contain classificatory adjectives. The internal consistency of the statements and the degree of visibility of their components for syntactic operations were examined. The blurred boundary between proper compounds and lexical units with multiple words is highlighted. The interaction between word formation and syntactic processes is emphasized. An analysis of the discussed phenomena is presented within the framework of construction morphology theory, which represents the application of the assumptions of construction grammar to the study of the internal structure of words.

The work is primarily aimed at researchers dealing with word formation, morphosyntax, phraseology, and lexicon of English and Polish, as well as theoretical and contrastive linguistics. It will also be of interest to students of modern languages.
