Product details

The Baltic Sea spa Zingst, idyllically located in the middle of the Vorpommern Bodden Landscape National Park, has a history spanning almost 130 years. While the local population primarily relied on agriculture, fishing, and seafaring in the mid-19th century, the establishment of a bathing committee in 1881 attracted an increasing number of visitors to the area. New guesthouses, restaurants, and various service facilities were created for them. Zingst resident Wolfgang Eggert presents to the reader 80 fascinating pairs of images that showcase how Zingst has changed since 1945. Together with a team of authors, he invites readers to stroll through the streets and squares, leading them to the heart of this popular seaside spa: the spa house. Originally a beach tent and restaurant, it has evolved into a remarkable building that is considered the cultural center of the spa experience.
