Zeit bis zur fibrinolytischen Therapie bei akutem Myokardinfarkt

Fibrinolytic therapy is a time-critical intervention that has been shown to reduce mortality and morbidity in patients with acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). In South Africa, there is limited data on the time to initiation of fibrinolytic therapy in STEMI patients and the reasons for delayed treatment. We assessed the frequency of administering fibrinolytic therapy to patients presenting with STEMI at a single urban center in Pretoria. Additionally, we identified the reasons for delays in the administration of fibrinolytic agents. We propose potential solutions to the numerous challenges our country faces in this regard.
