Over four decades, Peter Sloterdijk dedicated himself to a diary of a special type, morning after morning: In lined DIN A4 notebooks he handwrote down what he had noticed the previous day and what was in store for him. He did not consider publishing the notations. Dated notes were created by this writing-for-itself, a melancholically cheerful contemporaneity is evident in them, which uniquely combine thought diary, intellectual comedy and social tragedy.
Peter Sloterdijk wrote with and against the events in the as around her self-maintained diaries, directed his attention to the big picture and the hidden details; at the early hour he wrote extraordinary short essays and ironic aphorisms, biting commentaries and restrained hymns of praise.
At the end of 2011, the diarist decided to make his notes public: He took issue 100 from 2008 and transcribed his transcripts, lines and days, until the end of 2010.
