We will see beautiful days. Letters from Prison was published in 2019 by the French publisher des femmes – Antoinette Fouque. The volume gathers the letters that Kurdish artist and journalist Zehra Doğan wrote to her Turkish friend Naz Öke during her 600-day imprisonment (from June 2017 to February 2019). The letters, written in Turkish and translated into French by Naz Öke and Daniel Fleury, bear witness to political arbitrariness, of which Zehra Doğan and her fellow inmates have become victims. They recount the conditions of detention in the prisons of Diyarbakır and Tarsus, the cramped prison cells with tiny windows through which two stars shine every night, as well as the women whose solidarity gives Zehra Doğan strength and whose stories she wants to preserve to raise awareness about the fate of many unjustly imprisoned Kurdish prisoners in Turkey. Zehra Doğan, born in 1989 in Diyarbakır, is a Kurdish artist, journalist, and activist who was sentenced to nearly three years in prison for painting an image based on a photograph taken by the Turkish military of Nusaybin during the state of emergency. She was charged with propaganda for a terrorist organization and membership in a terrorist association. In 2018, she received the Courage in Journalism Award from the International Women's Media Foundation.
