Ten Days and Report on an Inner Stay are texts from internment. Ten days were recorded following an involuntary inpatient treatment in a psychiatric facility in Paris. A decade later, the report on an inner stay documents pre-trial detention in the Geneva prison of Saint-Antoine. The texts describe cells where writing is forbidden, yet thoughts and inner worlds are granted infinite space. The tension between mental expansiveness and physical confinement is almost unbearable. After his detention, Hohl reconstructs places, scenes, and types; at the same time, he reflects on thoughts, fears, and images from captivity that will flow into his texts as existential experiences.
