Product details

Yves Klein intended to publish a collection of his texts, which would have been entitled "Aventure monochrome." This selection summarizes his journey in style, as if it were a picaresque novel. He first wanted to become a judoka, stayed in England and Spain, then realized his dream: to study judo in Japan. When he returned to Paris in 1954, with a black belt 4th dan, the French Judo Federation refused to recognize his Japanese grades. Yves Klein then turned to art. Becoming Yves le Monochrome, he adopted the blue to which he gave his name - the IKB, International Klein Blue - projecting art into the invisible, transforming his models into living brushes. From the immaterialization of blue to the Anthropometries, from sponge reliefs to fire paintings, from zones of pictorial sensitivity to the leap into the void, Denys Riout invites us to discover one of the most innovative artists of his time, whose colors, constantly renewed over the course of just over ten years of creation, never cease to amaze and enchant.
