This book is meant to encourage you to make decisions that are right for you regarding your pregnancy, the birth, and the time afterward. I want to accompany you through your pregnancy with yoga and prepare you for the birth as well as everything that comes right after—not just on the yoga mat, but also off of it.
Yoga can be used as a tool for the changes that these phases bring, addressing both physical and mental transformations. With yoga, you will get to know your body even better, which is so important for your birth—because during labor, your body works for you, and you should trust it. Your intuition will be trained, and you will learn to recognize your body's signals and give it what it needs, whether it’s rest, deep breathing, or exercises that open your pelvis, for example. I will provide you with yoga exercises that you can practice at home, tell you what to pay attention to, and which aspects are important for birth preparation.
During pregnancy and labor, your body is in a constant state of peak performance. With yoga, you help your body navigate this time as comfortably as possible. Certain mental exercises will also support you, which are described in the book.
Yoga also involves tension, in the sense of strengthening exercises that counteract discomforts during pregnancy, such as back pain. It also includes relaxation, which encompasses meditation, breathing exercises, and autogenic training. In this process, especially as a pregnant woman, you will learn to pay more attention to yourself and your needs, lose fears, and gain more trust in your body.
One thing is very important to me: Consider this book as a kind of bouquet—you look for what feels right for you and what you can do.
