The image tells the story of three women's life paths, who had opportunities that their mothers had not envisioned for them. They look back just before retirement, on the brink of aging. They remember the breaks in their lives—breaks that not only change life but also significantly shape their worldview. A worldview that sometimes looks very different from reality. Or the supposed reality. And it is the story of Alma's self-discovery, from whom Paul wants the painting "The Goddess" back. "The Goddess," of whom she believes she was the one who conceived the idea. The book reads like a thriller but is not one. Because everything could be quite different than one thinks.
